Make your own power: I saved 25% on my electricity bill using solar power kits...

It seems every which way we turn, renewable energy is the main topic on everyones lips. I was reading on CNN this morning that governments all over the world are handing out grants for people that are installing alternative energy in their homes. Due to this, thousands of residences have been upgraded to improve not only our responsibility for cleaning this planet, but their homes efficiency and power costs.
Solar Power Kits
While I was researching for solar power kits to install in my house, I considered building it myself, but it seemed daunting.

After I read this guide, I realized it is not all that hard to do, but saying that, there are several important steps that could be easily overlooked without knowing exactly what to do.

So make sure you understand what you are doing before you start.

As I learned more about the benefits of renewable energy, the more I realized it would be a very wise choice for my house. So I started researching the most economical and cost effective ways to make my home 'green'.

II came to understand how quick and easy it can be to build a solar power system my self, and using an excellent guide, I was able to make it happen in less than 2 weeks.

Here Are The Major Benefits Of This Guide:

"I managed to build 2 panels for under $100!"
I was looking to purchase a few retail solar panels for my home but after looking at the price of them it just made sense to build my own.

After going through your materials I managed to build 2 solar panels for under $100! They are just small panels but this is all I need for the lighting and fridge in my courtyard.

It still takes a fair amount of work to build a proper solar power kit, but without this complete manual, there is no way I could have done it myself. Many other people completely agree with me on this..

I highly recommend you check out this guide if you are thinking about building your own solar panels, you have nothing to lose because of the 2 month guarantee...

solar power house Integrating solar power into your house...

Sure, solar power sounds great, but how exactly do you add it to the electricity already coming from the grid? How can the electricity generated from your solar panels power your house?

Installing a solar power system into your home is fairly straightforward, but sometimes it can be a bit tricky when you add it to a house that has already been built. Once it is installed you could see a pretty big decrease in your power bill while helping reduce your carbon footprint.

If you are looking to have your home self sustainable, solar power is the most viable option. It is quiet, clean and fairly efficient. Typically it is a lot easier to integrate solar power kits while you are building your house, it is quite possible to upgrade to a solar powered home.

Solar power, most simply, converts sunlight into electricity. When sunlight shines on the solar cells, direct current is taken from the energy of the sun and is passed through an inverter to convert into alternating current so it is compatible with the cities power grid.

Before deciding on installing a solar power kit, there are several factors you should consider first. It is important to maximize the suns exposure on your solar panels. Generally your panels should be facing in a northerny direction, and at an angle with the best positioning. The shape, tilt and orientation should be carefully determined to get the most out of your system. This is achieved by either designing the roof during the build or installing a mount if the roof is already built.

Building the solar panel kits into an existing home usually costs about the same as if you are building a new house, but you could run into complications if the roof is not already oriented in the general direction you need.

Depending on how you are wanting to integrate your system, you may need to talk to your electricity supplier about connecting and metering the additional electricity from your solar power system. The electricity supplier may incur costs connecting the system into the grid.

Although solar power has been around for some time, only recently has there been major technological changes to the types of panels available. There are much more efficient designs for solar cells that are now becoming very popular as there is approximately a 15-30% increase of efficiency from the older types. These are a bit more expensive, but will make up for the cost a lot faster.

Be sure to inquire on any government rebates that may be available in your country before you build. The savings are typically substantial.

Solar PanelsSolar Power During A Blackout.

Recently, the amount of power blackouts have increased dramatically due to electrical grids becoming overloaded.
In 2003, 54 million people were left without power for 3 days. This, obviously caused life to become very difficult.

Think how this could have been averted if even small, inexpensive solar panels were used on rooftops.
Solar Power was in fact used by many people during the blackout. These people had enough renewable energy, they could run most of their essential electrical appliances.

Clean, cheap, efficient - Solar power is one of the most viable renewable energy systems for the home. When driving down the street at night you will be sure to see solar powered lights marking entrances to driveways, illumination for gardens and patios and even house numbers.

Solar power is everywhere these days. The versatility of solar is why it is such a popular method of powering a multitude of objects. taken in a larger scale, this is perfect for houses as well. Now that solar cells are becoming smaller, cheaper and more efficient, solar seems to be the most viable option. Millions of homes all over the world are being powered by solar.

So how does solar power work?

Solar panels, or photovoltaic tiles work by changing sunlight into clean electricity. The PV tiles are made up of two plates of silicone, one negatively and one positively charged, placed under a piece of glass. In between the plates are wires running the length of the tile. As the suns rays carry protons to these silicone plates, a reaction occurs that loosens neutrons off the negatively charged silicone plate, which are trapped in the magnetic field caused by the oppositely charged plates. Now, the neurons, having nowhere to go, run the path of least resistance, and follow the wires, which creates the electrical current.

This electrical current is direct current, or DC, and needs to be passed through an inverter to convert the current into alternating current, as homes in North America use AC. During this process, there is a 5% loss of electricity, but this is much more efficient than it once was.

Solar panels usually last around 40 years as PV tiles are very low maintenance. The only upkeep on the tiles is to clean them once a year to ensure maximum sun exposure. No moving parts means there is nothing that will wear out and break.

How are PV tiles used to power your home?

Depending on how much you want to spend, you can power as little or as much as you want. Many people install solar power kits just for heating their water. If you have a roof that is oriented fairly well, you could power anywhere from 75% to 100% of your home. It is even possible to sell any excess electricity to the electrical company. You can have a grid tie system that will feed the electrical grid, and you will never have to pay for electricity again!
